:)

Hey Ladies! Happy Summer & almost 4th of July :)

So I got a little carried away - I realized this blogging thing isn't so hard - before I knew it I had changed the whole layout! Oops! I think it was time for some change anyway :) (Had it really been 2 years?) But anyone, feel free to keep editing or add some motivational quotes! Maybe we should all suggest one of our favorites :)

So I'm loving my internship with Insitu so far...making some money & new friends, learning lots, and getting my networking on ;)...can't believe I'm actually almost halfway done! It is absolutely beautiful here out here. I have lots of pics to post on facebook soon, but they really don't do it justice. I've been going on lots of hikes, caving, camping...all that outdoorsy stuff. Running is going alright - I thought I'd be used to these hills by now, but honestly I don't know if I'll ever be! Today was a great day - I successfully delivered a tech-demo to my mentor; after work I went for a run starting in downtown Hood River by the Columbia River (around sea level) and then climbed up past my house (at 800ft ASL) and up to Hood River Heights (around 1600ft ASL) to the gym. I love lifting weights & I just got my membership today - so excited! The gym isn't as great as I was hoping - but the CEO & former ERAU president bought the membership for me so I can't complain...free is always good :) I saw there is a cycle class at 5:45AM which right now I'm planning on going to, but we'll see how ambitious I feel at 5AM ;) Then after the gym I ran across the street to the grocery store, bought some dinner, and had a lovely brisk walk home (I'm car-less here) :) Bea we could be power-walking partners! We'll have to do so together next year if our house is fairly close to a grocery store - it really is quite enjoyable :)

I hope everyone is enjoying their free time & getting excited for a great cross-country season - it's going to be the best one yet!!! Take care ladies! Miss you all! <3

hey dudes!

Hey Y'all!
I feel like I ought to start saying that more often now that I live in the south! Hmm... let me see what I can update you with...

Lots of new things:
1. The other day I was handed a box of business cards that say Assistant Women's Cross Country Coach / Assistant Track Coach! So I was pretty excited about that.

2. I live 12 minutes away from Berry College, which has 41+ miles of trails! And, because the trails climb up Mount Berry, I now have hill-running muscles!!! hahah it's so exciting!

3. I'm currently training for club cross nationals in December. I'm putting together a full team for it, so I'm pretty excited. We're even getting sponsored by Big Peach Running company, so we'll have jersey's and gear too!

4. Training is going well. I put myself on our incoming freshmen training schedule. Which is a bit humbling... but then again, it's been a huge transition coming from flat-as-a-pancake florida. 45 miles/wk in the mountains is easier said than done! Poor feetsies... But, I'm as fit now as I ever have been, and I've only been training for a couple months. So that's good!

5. I love Rome, Ga very very much. I'm renting a sweeeeet house with 2 roommates who are awesome, and I found a crazy church I love to death. My best friend is a Kenyan, and I'm learning to speak Swahili.

I think that's it! Happy running everyone! I'm trying to get Hopfe to bring you guys out here for some meets, so maybe I'll see you in a few months!

my first workout

Except for an easy run last week I have not been working out at all since nationals...kinda nice, but gosh i start to feel so lacy and fat. So today I signed up for a sportsclub. They have all kinds of nice workouts- Dancing, Zumba, Body Pump, Body Balance, weight room, spinning etc etc... Today I started with 55min Core and after that 1 hour dancing. It was a lot of fun, even though i joined a group that's been training together for a long time and already new all the moves (i did my best but trust me it was hard to follow!!) .

Tomorrow it's time for Zumba and Body Pump!! Wee hoo!!

Finally I can take my power walks  w/o ppl asking why im out walking,! So yeah one power walk every day is also my plan for this summer!

see ya later aligator

to my chicas

i just want to thank everyone who has made the last four years truly an awesome experience. silly and cliche as it sounds, "once an eagle, always an eagle". i couldn't have asked for a better group of ladies to share my time with, both on and off the track. true teammates are ones that you keep for life (oh Coach Ridder. lol), and you girls are true teammates. now i kno there's no need to be getting all kinds of sentimental and whatnot; i'll still be here in the fall, and i'm still gonna race at the home meet (so watch out!), but i just wanted to let you chicas know how much it has meant to me to be a part of this team.

and now with that out of the way...here's to the most wonderful time of the year. summer training season! yay!
