Here in Florida

Well... after like... a million attempts to figure out how to sign up and post to this blog i can finally add an update! this could be a bit random and hard to follow... sorry bout that.

So after about a week being home i decided 2 things... 1. i needed to find some soccer while i have the chance... and 2. there was no way i would find the motivation to run at all in the month of June unless i found some running buddies. soooooo... I was running one day with my friend Gracie (who i played soccer with my senior year of hs) and she asked me to join and indoor soccer team with her!! YAY! so i've been playing soccer all summer... and not running nearly enough.

However, it seems to be a weird phenomenon, my family has suddenly become crazy about being healthy? i don't know what happened while i was away at school. of all the people that live at our house... my older sister (Emily) and her husband (Mark) now go running every night (i join them when they run but mostly for me they are just like easy runs, although that is better than not running), mom tries to run as often as she can, and swims when she doesn't want to run, my uncle (Vince), who usually sits on the computer ALL DAY, ran 3 miles with us the other day, one of my younger brothers (Noel) has joined our evening running group, and my older brother (Tom) even tried to run with us once (he pretty much lives on the couch).

Other than running almost all of my family has at least attempted to join me in my pool workouts. Mom, Emily, Mark, Vince, Noel, Joy (my little sister), Jerry (my youngest brother), and Char (my kind of aunt) have all tried to. the first time they joined me Joy dropped out after trying to run across the pool once. mom wouldn't let Jerry drop out and he later reported to my dad "Holly tried to kill us"... haha. now i just have to get Dad and Tom to try a pool workout.

When i was younger my parents always made us all drink whole milk (becuz we were too skinny?) we have now moved to 2%... skim milk... and soy milk? and we used to get sugary cereal for a treat every Sunday... now all we've got is nasty corn flakes. Although with me being home i have convinced my parents to get frosted mini wheats and honey nut cheerios so i have something to eat :)... another strange new health obsession they have taken to... instead of normal peanut butter... my dad eats the nasty natural stuff... and my sister and her husband and my mom get almond butter? weird.

My little sister... though she doesn't run with us or do pool workouts... stays in shape with her ice skating. She's gone to Atlanta, Philadelphia, and West Palm beach this summer for her ice skating (we are in west palm beach right now actually). But my mom now does not let her eat or drink anything with dairy, any sweets more than once a week, and various other things that i haven't figured out yet. It's really entertaining though becuz anytime she and her friend Christa convince me to take them shopping they both sneak ice cream, italian ice, and, Joy's new favorite, jars of cake frosting (nasty).

So i guess my family's new healthy thing didn't quite affect everyone afterall :)

Mallory came to visit last Saturday. That was nice because i hadn't seen him since May.

Emily wanted to try running a whole 5k... so i told her i would run it with her to keep her motivated... so she made it! that was the 4th of July... now her new goal is to run a 5k under 30 minutes... so we have another 5k on Saturday. Right now, as i mentioned, I am in west palm beach. That means i have no one to run with :( so today i ran from our hotel to the beach... then on the beach.. and then back.. it felt like it took a million years... but i was only gone 30 minutes... ugh! oh well.

I can't wait to get back to Daytona and see everyone again. Hope you all have a good rest of the summer though!!!

:)
