hey chicas!
so i'm sitting here at work...freaking out over my presentation...trying to eat my lunch....when i come to the realization that in one week's time i'll be back on the east coast to see your lovely faces! yay! at the same time, i'm wondering where did the time go?
so an injury update...b/c you kno how difficult i can be...i saw the orthopedic last week and made him listen to my crackling knee. and the first thing out of his mouth was "eeeewwwwww. you poor thing". Thanks Dr. Huber, that makes me feel a whole lot better. So he played around w/ it a little bit, took some x-rays, gave me this sexy brace to wear and told me i'm not allowed to run hills and would be better off not running everyday. que fabuloso! i'm also supposed to do physical therapy for it (which is gonna be a whole lot easier when i don't have to work 10 hours a day) and make an appt to see him again in December when i come home for xmas. Nothing terrible, but the pool and elliptical will still be my friends for a while.
So that's about it. I hope you're all enjoying the last bit of summer. Safe travels!

work, work, work!
well sadly my life has been rather unexciting compared to miss kira (how's the head? got your new phone? when do you get to run?). its been nothing but work and training. don't get me wrong, i love what i do. but the boss is def keeping me busy w/ just two weeks left there. and sadly i too kno the feeling of not running lately; the knees are still making funny noises which is worrying both my parents and myself. so i've been hitting up the gym (bike, pool, elliptical, arctrainer-omg my favorite machine ever!) and i see the orthopedic this friday. so we'll see what happens :\
between that and dealing w/ the family i am so ready to be back in daytona...minus the weather. it's been absolutely gorgeous here!
and to answer kira's question about this year's roster: idk.
haha. that was the roster i received from coach as of the date i posted it. at that time he mentioned there was a possibility of signing a couple more girls before the season started, but nothing was for sure.
well i think that's all i got. hasta luego!

Two weeks to go!
So, in the past week (week and a half ish) I have had my car break down twice, my phone get wet and die, and had surgery on my head! Turns our I needed a new battery for the car, so it works now. Had to drive my mom's roadtrek (mini RV) around which at first I was totally embarrassed but LOVED it in the end.
Ordered a new phone, thankfully it's under warranty (because I break/lose phones so often!) so it will only cost shipping and then I have to send my wet one back when I get it. It's kind of annoying, well more than annoying without a phone. Plus I don't get to keep all my picture or videos that I didn't save to the website, BUMMER!
So my head.... I have had a bump on the top of my head for a while and over the last year it's gotten bigger so I decided, mostly because I had my parents worrying, to get it checked out and my doctor told me to get it removed the next day! So he did it, it only took like 30-40 min but that was only because he tried doing it with as little cutting as possible. (hopefully none of you are eating while reading this!).
I haven't run since then (Tuesday) because I am not allowed to do ANYTHING, even lifting or core until tomorrow and even then I should stick to stationary biking or walking at first. How frustrating! I tend to lose shape REALLY quickly... not so much in my legs butmy lungs.
I know Salinas gave us the roster earlier, is that for sure? I am hearing rumors of three or so other girls... this is coming from the guys team so I know not to take their word for it but yeah, just curious!
I am really excited to come back to DB, it is finally in the 80s here if we are lucky, so I'm thinking warm! I hope everyone has a fun last two weeks and stays completely injury free.
xo Kira

Loooong run
Arggg... I already wrote this and then it got deleted when i hit some magic button. You all know how much I love writing so here it goes again....
On Saturday I went my for a long run with the running club and the only problem is that there's a front group that takes off too fast for me at the start then a huge gap and everyone else. Guess where I fit in... that's right in the Hugh gap there's Beth! Well so far I've been lucky to find at least one other person to run with, though i had to push myself to keep up so that i wouldn't get lost (ran 7 minute pace for 10miles than die for the last 3). During this long run the guy i run with wasn't there and i was all by myself. At the first water stop I saw the front pack leaving just as I arrived, so i wasn't far behind them. After I got done with the water I started running in their direction and i though i knew how to at least get to mile 7, the second water stop. But i missed the first turn and was lost for a mile, when i found the right path there were lots of people running, but a lot slower than i was. I made it to the second water stop, but everyone that would have ran at my pace already left and so it was hard to also find someone who wanted to run more than 10 miles. Finally this old man said he'll do 13 miles, so i ran with him at a slow pace. after a mile or 2 we saw a couple of people going a different direction and the old man told me to catch up to them b/c they are running longer than 13. So I did, i left the old man and ran up to this couple. I asked them how far they were going and they told me 18 miles!!!!! Oh no i thought, i only wanted to run 14-15miles maybe 16. Now if it were possible they were running slower than the old man, and i could not survive running that long for that slow and they said it would take them around 3 hours to run this. When we reached the 3rd water stop a man popped out from another trail. Thank God he came, b/c he was running much much faster and only going 16.5 miles. So when i finally got done I ran over 17 miles! and it took me 2:19. so I'll defiantly be prepared the our 2 hour long runs and that 3.1 mile race is going to see like nothing!!
Ok the the computer was acting realllly weird when I was trying to type this...

Im running again!!
i started running last tuesday and it wasnt anything too exciting. coach rosolino gave me my own rehab schedule which consisted of running only 10 minutes a day sometimes. its so hard to stop after only 10 minutes when i finally get in my groove! lol
but my foot feels great!!! *knock on wood* and now the only thing slowing me down is the fact that im out of shape. lol...but i am glad i went to the gym about 6 times a week and biked so much. B/c we alll know how good i am on that bike. haha i have been going nice and slow but i feel like im starting to get into shape! it feels so good...so hopefully ill be ready in time for the season to start :)
Anyways....my best friend from germany came last week too and is staying with me until july 17th. I havent seen him in over 2 years and its sooooo nice to have him around again. About ten of my friends and i are heading down to Miami to stay w/ my good friend Quoman and go shopping, hang out on south beach, and clubbing :) i have never really seen it down there so im pretty excited!
Well i hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend...cant wait to hear about yalls summer adventures!
Love,
Bales :)

sitting, waiting, wishing
Hey there chicas,
So sadly it seems that I do nothing but run and work these days. My tan is slowly fading. lol. Sadder yet, I only have one month left in cali! It seems like I just got here! But then again, I get to return to Daytona and see all of your lovely faces again. Yay! Sorry. I’m kinda rambling on about nothing right now. I’m sitting at work right now with nothing else to do. Actually, I lied. It’s not that I have nothing else to do; it’s that I’ve already put in the maximum hours I’m allowed to work for the week, but since I carpool w/ my dad, I have to wait for him to be done before I can go home. Argh! But such is life. i'm listening to some Jack Johnson (can you not tell from the title of today's post?) and that always puts me in a good mood.
Tonight i'm off to downtown Hollywood w/ the siblings to see our cousin perform at the Knitting Factory. Strange name. but w/e. I haven’t seen him perform before, but according to the siblings he’s really good. So I’m pretty excited about that. more exciting is the fact that there is no work tomorrow. so i get to chill at the beach, read my book, go for a run, and do nothing that requires any thinking.
Hope you all have a fine and dandy 4th of July weekend! And if you must play w/ fireworks, be careful! (i think that was more for myself than anything. haha. ok. i seriously need to get out of here. i think i'm getting cabin fever. or rather, office fever. did i mention there are no windows into my office? that's a bummer.)

My first post! :)
Hey everyone!!!
Sorry it's taken me a while to get on here, I'm keeping veryyy busy with my internship and online class. I'm absolutely LOVING Panama City Beach...I was so nervous before I started my internship that I would be bored and lonely all summer. But I made 2 really good friends that are are also interns, and actually grew up here. That helps, because they've introduced me to their friends and shown me everything there is to do around here :) We've also gotten to meet a bunch of the new hires that are just now starting to work on the navy base, or have been here just under a year...there are ALOT of cute, rich, eligible bachelors ladies! haha. I'm going to be sad when my internship is over, it's been a lot of fun and such a good experience...I've learned so much! At work I get to ride on Navy ships and "hunt" mines, meet sailors, run tests in the lab, and debug the navigation system that's on the Navy ship. I also play a lot of Mahjongg (the Chinese tile matching game) when I'm waiting to get help on a problem :) I almost broke 3 minutes the other day, new high score, woo! But anyway, it'll be nice to get back into the normal routine at school, I miss you all!
My first couple weeks here I was doing really well, going to the gym or running right after I got off of work around 4...but the weather is getting ridiculous! I slacked for a few days in there, but I'm getting back into it again :) Yesterday I ran the Hathaway Bridge, which connects the beach with the city, with this cute Navy guy I've been dating :) We're both signing up for a 5k road race on the 19th so I can see where I'm at. I'm sososooo jealous of all you girls and your nice running locations in Sweden, CA, Mass, & MD!!! The humidity here never goes away! But luckily I will be going to Idaho for a week after my internship ends. Idaho State University has the CRAZIEST cross-country course I have ever seen. I will hopefully run it a couple times while I'm there...I'll try to take a picture of the hill at the last 1/4 mile of the course, it's crazy! Hopefully the altitude doesn't kill me ;) I can't wait for camp. I have a feeling this is going to be a great season!
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, it's hard to believe it's almost over! Enjoy your 4th of July weekend :)

I don't quite call it a vacation
Hey Ladies,
This summer has flown by and as far as I could read everyone seems to be holding up fairly well! This next season has potential to be our best yet so stay on the workout wagon :) Good ole Florida throws quite a few curve balls with the weather we've had so I KNOW its been hard to stay consistent but "just do your best, and forget the rest!"
Chris and I have been doing a workout program called P90X. It's rather X-treme, but seems to be good so far. Some great food recipes and one heck of a workout! It wasn't until June or so that I got cleared to run so I am still building up but doing what I can while I strengthen muscles I haven't used in a while.
I leave this Friday, July 3rd, for boot camp with the ARMY to Ft Lewis, Washington. I am there for all of July and will sadly be more out of shape when I am complete with that then I think I'll have EVER been. At least that seems to be the norm for most people. However, I have two more weeks of training in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, where I should be able to resume a normal schedule and workout regiment. The two weeks in Kentucky will be during Cross Country Camp :( so I won't be attending Rocky Bottom Camp with everyone this year either. Missing so much time with the team is very discouraging on my part but I look forward to having a team full of motivation to get my big butt back in shape when I return!
I hope you all have a safe and wonderful 4th of July holiday! Run safe and hard :D
If the only one that knows you quit is you, then you gave up before you ever gave yourself a chance. Fight till the end, remember: 2 minutes later you'll feel just fine!
