so i made some friends that i've been running with out here, which is great becuase they're all mid 19's runners, just my speed! (i hope!) haha
anyways, they invited me to go on this 12 mile long run which involves 5 miles straight up, not including the rolling hills on the way to the climb in the first place. it'll be at an easy pace, but the terrain will make it pretty rough, even for the veterans... now, my longest run this summer was this weekend, when i went 82 minutes for about 10 miles, 5 of which were uphill, but broken up into segments, so it was easy. This run should be about 20 minutes longer, which is kind of a lot, but i really want to do it because i think it would be a great challenge, and somethign i can look back and say "if i did this, i can do anything". but i'm pretty fragile, so there's a chance it could be too much of a jump for me... what do you think? i usually don't add more than 10% at a time, but this would be adding 25%, so i'm a bit wary of throwing the rulebook out the window.
i know i can do it, and i'd love to go... it's just a matter of... is this a good idea? haha maybe i'll call coach and make him feel important ;) in the meantime, opinions are greatly appreciated

Well, I would say go for it, but be careful. Don't push through anything, if you feel tired stop, I know you're not dumb. Start slowly, if you feel good as the run progresses pick up the pace. I think you would be fine, but I wouldn't do it again the next weekend and you should take it easy the next day. Have fun and go for it! That's my advice anyway, 'father figure' might say something different though lol.
